Today Mrs. Fleener took us and Mr. Gibson's class outside to discover different types of soils.  We found the differences between four types of soil.  There is clay, gravel, sand, and humus.  First was gravel.  We felt it and it felt hard, rough, and sratchy.  Next was the clay.  It felt very soft, dry, smooth and powdery.  Next came the humus.  We were surprised that it felt spongy.  It had decaying leaves in it.  I think the part I touched was decaying bone because it was very hard like a rock.  When we were finished, we cam in to write this paragraph.

School is well underway and we are excited about the amazing things going on in our Habitat!  Mrs. McElroy's class went outside to learn about states of matter.

These pictures are of the kids eating juice pops. We’re talking about liquids freezing to solids and states of matter. We made juice pops in ice trays and drew a before and after picture with captions. We ate them in the habitat and talked about liquids.

Check back often to see how we are doing and what we are learning about outside in our Habitat!
